My Verche Story…

Hello my very stylish readers, I do hope you’re enjoying these posts on accessories, particularly statement jewelry  because i’m having a blast! After this you should not have any reasons not to stand out at work or at any event for that matter!

Today it’s about me… well to an extent and I very well deserve it don’t I? I mean talking about these beautiful pieces should have made you wonder what it’s doing to me right? what can I show off from my wardrobe? is there a place for the simple minimalist like me?… what’s my story?

So here they are, my Verche pieces, courtesy of Verche L’Art cessoire for moi! I obviously had fun with these pictures and you must know I took these photos last night! Thanks to my friends Ayo and Nnete Oladiran who I pulled out of their routine to take these 100 photos a second pictures!!!! It was an eventful evening but worth it hey? I absolutely love these jewelry pieces- Simple, versatile and yes, quite L’ Art cessoire!!!

This is really versatile. You could wear the necklace and earrings with jeans and simple clothing, for a quick trip out of the house but not wanting to lose your stylish touch if you know what i mean ;).

Meeting Madam Verche.

Madam Verche is the name her friends call her because not only is she the CEO of the famous brand Verche L ‘Art cessoire, but she knows her brand like the back of her perfectly manicured hand! She not only retails some of the best Jewelry in the country ranging from costume to silver and gold; she also creates and designs these unique pieces.

Ibok Offiong, a mother of 3, began her company almost 4 years ago and since then,  has grown it to this wonderful jewelry brand. I sat with her for a few hours at her home and while we chatted I was able to structure these few questions for her,  to give you, my stylish readers an insight to the mind and achievements of this Nigerian Jewelry Designer and retailer:

1. What does Verche L’ Art cessoire mean and what are your achievements 3 or 4 years on?
Verche L’Art cessoire means Vera & Chloe’s Art of Accessories, which are my daughters names. I came up with the name in French because the business was birth in Paris. We have been in business since September 2010 really, that’s over 3 years now and still counting. Some of our achievements include, winning Accessory Designer of the year 2012 by The Nigerian Entertainment Award, Winning YOUWIN award by the Federal Ministry of Finance, Nigeria in May,2013, Being invited to feature on the Plitz New York Fashion week on September 9th 2013, Being featured on Moments with Mo on 26th December 2013 and recently jointly organizing a successful event with 2 friends in Maryland, USA, an event called “All Things Nigerian Expo,2014” on May 26th,2014. Looking forward to more achievements.

2. What is the most memorable experience your position as Madam Verche / CEO has exposed you to?
My most memorable experience was meeting the Black Peoples Entertainment CEO and her loving and acquiring my piece at the pop up store after the runway show at New York Fashion Week.

Me with TV Personality Ebuka and Stylist Barbie at the ‘Ages of Fashion’ Runway Show in Transcorp Hilton Abuja, which was my first runway show as a brand.

3. What’s your best Verche piece/Accessory /Collection /Line and why is it your best?
I love more than one piece really, and a few of them include the “Zahara” (it’s a tribal loop/coral set), “Rowen Berry” (pearls and links/chain combo), “Ixora”(pearls/toothpick corals combo), “Fleur”(Gold chain/Red Corals) and “Bryony”(multicolored crystals). All this pieces are under our Floral Collections and our “ADORN” Line .
(These pieces are all available at the Verche L’Art cessoire store in Abuja, Address below).
So there you have it! Need I say more? You have been shopping and viewing her pieces the past few days so let me know what you think now that you know the brains… or hands, behind the brand.
Drop by tomorrow if you want more and I know you do, of her new accessories just arrived ! there is also a special Madam Verche Discount to be had, so be the first to shop and wear and, you know, change the game as one of my ‘stylistas’ !
Till tomorrow,

Your Best Statement Jewelry For Work.

Hello Stylish readers, no small talk because I’m so excited- my new-found love for statement  jewelry just stepped up! so now that you have your arms loaded with the right statement jewelry for events, should we perhaps veer to the work side of things?

I know dressing for work can be boring and as if it were not bad enough, some offices give off dress codes like it was promotion worthy! grey, black, navy and anything neutral is the go-to for most work places and that can be daunting… but I say, not entirely! It could also serve as the perfect backdrop for the best of accessories! while you may be sanctioned for wearing out-of-place outfits or colors to work, no one is going to fine you for some really dazzling jewelry can they?… but I’m not saying to go chunky like the rap stars of the 80s or 90s though.

This is what I mean:

I honestly love these. The simple loops with the green and red pearls, those earrings like rested wings, the corals against the black dress, those huge grey pearls and oh! the art deco intertwined piece of gold, with rich blue stones are probably my best look outs!

Do shop these lovely pieces and start every Monday morning with a spring on your step!

You can find these unique pieces at : http://www.vercheonline.com, or email:  ibok@vercheonline.com.

Hugs as always,

Finding The Right Statement Jewelry For Occasions

I know, I know you’re reading the post topic and thinking, here we go again with the statement jewelry thing again!…. well, you’re right, here we go again but believe me when I say I have good reason- you know I have told you how important statement jewelry is to your quest to being a better ‘stylista’  ? but did I specifically tell you how to wear these statement jewelries?…mmm or did I?

OK Let’s be honest, we African women know how to put it all out when we have a big society wedding to attend or any event that involves us spending hours with the tailor making sure our ‘Aso ebi’ (Occasion Uniform) outfits are made to fit, our make up is top order and let’s not forget the nails and ‘Gele’ (traditional head tie); but so does every other stylish woman who’s going to be attending that same event especially if they share the same ‘Aso ebi’ as you! So ladies,  this is how you stand out, with your accessories! purses, shoes, pins and what we will be talking about today, statement making jewelry!

So how do you get the right accessories that speak volumes without you having to say a single word? that gets conversations started and just refuses to let you lose the smile on your face because of the approving nods and glances coming your way? whether you are the celebrant or the invited, shop jewelry like this when you need to make an appearance and, you know, thank me later!

Now you know, tell me, aren’t these some good eye candy? Definitely on my A list!
